Porsche 919 Hybrid is a sports prototype car built to compete in endurance championships. With the 2017 model the 2,0 liter V4 engine was reengineered to produce around 900 PS. Also, against the predecessor it featured improved aerodynamics and chassis. Porsche reported that “60 to 70 per cent of the vehicle was newly developed”. With all that power, Porsche scored a hat trick with third consecutive win at Le Mans and six-hour race at Nurburgring. It was also brand’s 19th overall win after a dramatic final a 1 hour repair going from 56th position to overall victory.

Last week’s news was that the new Porsche 919 Hybrid Evo took the Nordschleife’s all time record with 5:19, going under 6 minutes for the first time. The previous record was set 31 years ago by Stefan Bellof at 6:11 in a Porsche 956.
